– Blogging (not writing for hire)
– Facebook
– Twitter
– LinkedIn
– Google+
– Other such as YouTube, etc.
(This is all outside of face to face networking.) My biggest single lead was from LinkedIn – I wound up passing the work along to a friend, but it was worth $100k easy. Consistently it has been Twitter that landed me the most referrals. Now it's Google+ by a long shot. Of course a lot of it has to do with the network that we choose to focus on and spend the most effort.

I had 2 very successful years with my social media business on Facebook (retired). Had many wonderful clients and did get a couple of clients from LinkedIn.
Can you fill me in about this abit? I sorta interested.
Please give us aspiring social networkers a couple secrets!
Right now most of my business is coming from FB, I am now just branching out to Twitter and Google consistantly.
Google + has gotten me more connections than I've ever had before. But, I haven't needed to use it to look for work yet, as I'm firmly ensconced where I am at the moment.
– Facebook
– LinkedIn
– Guru.com
– Referrals from current clients
I think face book
I have started writing a social media howto of sorts, Purely because i have done social media for a long time, and do not 'sell' anything per say.
The key thing about social media, is that you are not there to 'sell' something so much as make it look good. Sort of like sponsoring a football match, so your name becomes known and recognized i guess.
Technically i 'sell' my workplace, because it becomes well known and recognized in my profile i suppose … least thats what i tell myself to get away with google+ all day at work π
I've gotten almost all my clients from LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and from Blogging. Nothing from Google+…. YET!! π
Twitter few times, Facebook once.
May I ask how you define "by a long shot"? Would it be possible that you allready capitalize from your groundwork on other platforms? Does the quality of the people in Google Plus make a difference to you as stated by others?
Twitter far more than anything else. I got a couple of inquiries from some blog posts.
My two currently most productive leads I got from:
β’ SecondLife (met there ages ago, migrated to Facebook)*
β’ Meetup
My absolute bone-dry not-a-single-cent-of-work networks:
β’ LinkedIn
β’ Google+
β’ any blog I've ever had (though portfolio page helped land agency gigs)
*Don't laugh.
I get moustly my visitors from forums, tryed also twitter but 0, houpfuly Google plus will improve the flow π But canΒ΄t say anything about Facebook coz dont have one yet….
No clients from any social network at all.
yes to twitter, facebook, blogging, and google+. No to linked in. Lots of interest but no business from Youtube (that being said, my dog's videos are the big draw there π )
i choose facebook
Blogging, yes, but not as much as referrals on LinkedIn. Why not include writing for hire, though? It's still a profession and a craft. But yes, I find that the more time I spend on social media, the higher the ROI, even if it does seem like a big "I."
We've seen results from facebook, blogging, and Google+ (through searches). We just put the G+ page up, so still building a base there.
+Holger Michael Keller good question. My piece of my business is based on my knowledge and expertise in business, technology, and social networks, but that doesn't always mean I land all my clients there. The LinkedIn offer was the single largest project as far as money goes (it was $100k to start – not a job/salary but just a single project). I do reguarly get referrals from LinkedIn and Twitter, but not so much Facebook. Google+ has given me the most consistant and highest netting projects and clients overall.
+Marjorie R. Asturias my reason for not including 'for hire' writing is that it's the product itself, not a lead-generator (although sometimes it can be!)
Via: Linkedin. But I look at all the other networking via., Blogging,Twitter, Facebook as my virtual resume.
Now if I could just convert my "Liked" pins on Pinterest into revenue that would be very lucrative!
How do you go about getting business on google+ and twitter? Are you actively seeking clients, do you post content to your page? I am trying to build my brand and increase business but as of right now I have not pinned down a way to make a profit out of it. Any suggestions?
I would like to know also. I am job hunting at the moment.
Linked In – good advice

Blogging has brought in some money for me. Mainly from info blogs. I wont' be retiring off of it yet though. I'm in Europe so most of my freelance work is via agencies & headhunters, never social channels — for whatever reason its never caught on (well, in my experience)
If I wasn't blogging I wouldn't be in business. I do RSS feeds from my site and people think I am everywhere (I work in a very small niche obviously).
Facebook for sure. π LinkedIn too. π
I guess it depends on your business. I help run +Tribal Fitness but the take up of G+ in the target market (women in Greater Belfast) is so poor it hasn't featured yet. I only set up the page to improve SEO… Facebook is still the place where the masses congregate, so for the B2C world of +Tribal Fitness, it's the only place to be at the minute
Thank you for your response +Lynette Young – sounds as if your are trading skill/time vs money, in case this sounds rude, keep in mind I respect what I have understood you contribute to the Social Media world. Could you eypress the mission/vision you work for in a sentence for me? I got lost in the details of your profile although I like it.
When I was doing contract work, I did get work through Linkedin and to your point I did focus a lot of my effort on Linkedin at the time.

+Lynette Young, I've received some very nice "original art" sales from my own blog. I think that was a great question. – Jill
