I had heard +United Airlines broke guitars but I didn't know it broke spirits too.
The only male flight attendant on +United Airlines flight 775 from EWR to ORD today made my wife cry. He asked her to check in a bag that simply could not be checked and treated her amazingly poorly. She had to carry what she could in her hands.
She is now at ORD boarding to YYC, and they are asking her to check in what she is carrying. Again, no compassion and no desire to help or listen.
Doesn't United charge for checked-in bags ? Doesn't United have big enough planes??
Doesn't United have employees who can hold their tongue and avoid yelling at a young woman who is tired, alone, stressed and vulnerable?
I hope the social media team is more compassionate than those who are dealing with customers in the ground.

Perfectly fitting to say "The tongue weighs practically nothing, but so few people can hold it." Sorry your wife is dealing with such an idiot!
I find the best way to get response from most airlines is by using Twitter.
I'm sure Esteban will be heard, he's the social media marketing manager for Samsung USA 😉
Very True +Lynette Young
FYI I'm right there with you +Esteban Contreras if you need RT's, shares, please let me know, my social networking army & I are at your disposal 😉
+Leslie Lawson You would think. I don't really expect a response on Twitter the way I did a couple years ago.
+Lynette Young I know that social media teams can sometimes let the rest of the organization aware about things they ignore. I hope they are more compassionate than the yelling attendant.
+Gabriella Sannino Thanks 🙂 I'm http://www.twitter.com/socialnerdia
hello
Hearing one side of the story here. Why can't she check the bag ? Is there a safety reason why its not allowed in the cabin ? Do the rules stop applying if we cry ?
+Gary Myers Trust me, the only reason they told her to check-in everything was because they didn't have enough space (their bad planning, their bad revenue management, their bad planes). But the problem is NOT just that. The problem is making people cry by YELLING at them. If you think yelling at my wife until she cries is part of the rules, then you should apply at United. I doubt you do, but United hired someone who does.
I have been asked to check bags before, and always given an explanation. Yelling at a customer is never, ever the way to go. THAT is the issue here, not someone needing to check a bag.
