Lance Armstrong is a total jerk for not admitting taking performance enhancing drugs sooner. As far as I am concerned he stole the wins from other legitimate competitors. "Confessing" to Oprah doesn't make it any better.

And putting your self on stage and playing clean and blaming everyone else makes it 100x worse than it already would be! Not feeling sorry is wimpy and devastating. I hope finally people start talking and peak the spell of secrets to make a future possible…and it needs every one!
Yeah … guess he is the perfect candidate for Congress!
https://plus.google.com/u/0/113708489830879834550/posts/diBUYWpE8zp my thoughts on the whole thing a little longer..
At the same time he raised $450 million for cancer research.
You can't cancel that out. Could he have done that without the drugs? Would someone else have done it in his place? We will never know.

cool!
Well… there were other "legitimate" competitors? It sounds like every top cyclist at the time was doing the same thing.
(Not that it justifies any of them.)
+Allen Firstenberg Here here, he did nothing others did not do, he just won and became a target. King of the hill buddy, someone is going to push you off.
From what I've seen there is no remorse, he even had the cheek to laugh in parts.. disgraceful!
+Chris Lang – well, to be fair… most of the "top people" are or were targets. There is a reason that nobody is now declared the winner of those seven TdF races… pretty much everyone else was already found to have been doing the same thing and already lost their medals.
I'd have to assume Lance made the most money off all this…
People are being hypocritical in there position regarding the likes of Armstrong, Sosa, McGuire and the others that have been caught using performance enhancing techniques. If you think that all the other top pro athletes are clean then your are being very naive.
Now for the truth of it all…
Lets split up professional sports into two categories. Lets call one "Tested" and the other "Non-Tested". Then let us sell tickets, sponsorship, air time, etc. for both. I promise you that the "Non Tested" professional sports will survive and the "Tested" will fail.
Professional sports is show business and show business must WOW and impress us to be worthy of our attention. We want to see the ball crushed over the fence and race times cut down. So that is what the show ponies of the professional sports show business gives and we eat it up like a fat kid does a Twinky. So don't villainize the show ponies when you see behind the curtain the ugliness of the backstage props that make it all worth watching.
I admire Lance for what he did with Livestrong, but deplore his cheating.
I disagree +Brett Shreffler Cycling is all about the human stamina to get to the end in first place, the show business is the perseverance and and resilience of one person against all others, so if the person is better than the others because of non sanctioned augmentation, you can fool your self is all for the show, but people just wont buy it for to long.
You could say you can not fool all of the people all of the time about the same thing.
I couldn't even watch the interview, I am so disappointed in him.
really….
It takes a strong person to see that what everyone around you is doing is 'wrong' and deciding to do what is 'right'. A stronger person than Lance, apparently.
I think he should have admitted it earlier too. I think he should have lobbied to have the rules changed so they weren't forbidden in the first place. I don't care if he was on them. He was a racer who won. Period. Would just anyone who juiced up be able to pull off winning as often as he did? Probably not.
For those who are genuinely annoyed by his actions the best thing they could do now is to stop talking about him. Talk about the issue itself, definitely but leave him out of it. No sense in adding to his renown.
Es realmente triste que el mismo haya admitio un delito del cual no puede ser culpable, impresionante la presion de la prensa.
We place tooooo much emphasis on winning. If you win you get millions of dollars if you come in second place you are the first loser. I know it is our nature and that is how we get better but you cant escape the trap of cheating when there are so many reasons to be a winner.
+Robert Neill that is nonsense. Of course you can escape the trap otherwise everyone would cheat.
I think for punishment he should be made to move to France and be remembered how many times he cheated.
Drugstrong.
Seriously? Everyone in biking dopes. Hes still a hero in my book
So, when WOULD have been the perfect time? 10 days ago? A year ago? 5 Years and 3 days? Not a fan of his, but he did finally come clean about it. Some people may just decide NOT to if they see so much negativity at actually owning up to something. I get what you're saying, but maybe this is a turn in the right direction for many people.
For real? Negative action as a result of coming clean is the consequence of cheating. You do something bad, you face consequences. You don't get rewarded for knowing it was bad. That's like the adult version of no child left behind.
+Sharon Ross Right. The Sky is Blue. Very observant.
Mute Post! YAY!
He did what he felt he had to do to win. By the way, Why is it Not allowed for athletes and competitors to use every available advantage? For them to push the boundaries of what the human body is capable of by using any means that they're comfortable with doing to their own bodies? Also, If everyone was doing it… He did it better; 7 times.
Very good comment Brian Prewett
Less you judge and more you can make in life and the world.
I admire his history, his work and tenacity.
To err is human, humans who are reading this, then what's the problem? Lack outdoors?
To err would've been, "Oops! Why does my coffee taste funny? Instead of Splenda, I put in DOPE. Silly me!"
Seems a large burden and warn his conscience wanted to live without Ziv
Does anyone recognize how much money the cycling federation, sponsors, investors made? There comes a time when the pressure to perform and win takes over and you become an object caught in a vicious cycle. Lance is a face in front taking the heat. At least his choice was to use his own money to inspire others to do good. I wonder how many lives have been saved by Lance and his mission to fight cancer vs the ones behind him and the Billions they made off him? How many lives have they saved? Look in your own heart and ask what you would have done if you were Lance. Thank you Lance I can only imagine how much fear you lived with even now.
