Usually my go-to super sleuth for GA is +Christopher Penn but now it looks like I've got a new smart person to read!

Super useful walk-through from +Lisa Barone on how to set up and use Google's new social media reporting in Analtyics. Bravo!

I love that social value chart. Made a bunch of diagrams for it a little while back: http://www.christopherspenn.com/2012/04/how-to-measure-if-social-media-marketing-is-working-for-you/
Have always thought GA should be smart enough to tell if you visitors are socially engaged. It is all information that they already know considering they know where your visitor came from, what they are doing and where they go to next.
Now, I have implemented the js events to tell GA this info, but I don't think I should have to.
The social value chart rocks. Great run through.
What I can't believe is the lack of discussion of the Google Social Data Hub partners https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/socialdata/, and the data that can be found under traffic sources > social > pages > (select a page). The activity stream > events can show how clients or potential clients (by name if your connected socially) are interacting with your posts. Delicious, Read It Later, Disqus, et al. I did a video on using it last week.
