I may have read more into it than was intended – hopefully it was intended. Being successful in social media and the web means much more than having a pretty "face". And by face I mean the paint job on your website or blog, your profile pictures of your actual face, your personality and charming disposition.
You need a great big BRAIN and you know how to use it often and well. Beauty online is NOTHING without consistant and through knowledge.

I always tell clients that it is no longer enough to be beautiful when it comes to marketing online. The Internet has become more like an Oscar after-party

yea…internet has become like an after-party
Thanks for sharing Lynette! I also think it's a great article and that it's not about a pretty face.. Instead, it's about branding yourself as an authority in your industry
No, its about a pretty face
+Stan Shur it all depends on what industry you are workin' on the web 😉
Everyone now wants to work with online marketing, but do not know that behind that person doing that is a citizen formed in advertising or marketing.
+Lynette Young true
Sure, though you have a pretty face +Lynette Young. A smiley welcoming face will play a part in attracting people to your business initially. I completely agree with you, building an online presence seems much more to do with how you build your personal brand. Building authority through sharing great content as well as people getting to know you.
I love good minimalist web design, but I read most of my blog content via RSS readers (http://reederapp.com/) or apps like ReaditLater (http://readitlaterlist.com/) or Instapaper. I infrequently interact with the web site. What keeps me coming back is the content.
Thanks, Lynette! 🙂
