I shared this because it's going to pop up sooner or later… I use and pay for Dropbox but need to look at GDrive so more. If I can automatically sync folders between my home/work desktop, laptop, iPad & iPhone like I can with Dropbox, it's a keeper.

Some more correct informations about #gdrive 's TOS.
I don't think that #gdrivesucks

No, Google does not own everything that you upload to Drive
There's a bit of a hubbub going on right now across the social sphere when it comes to the terms of service for Google's recently-released file locker called Google Drive. It all seems …

hiiiiiiiii
I'll be using Dropbox still, but that's just because I use 16 gb or so for free from them and that isn't possible with Drive. It seems okay though.
As for myself I will use the free 25gb of storage I get from SkyDrive the most, but that does not mean that there is no place for Box, Dropbox, or Google Drive for me as well.
It's a keeper, no question…
i can't sign up now, how to get account?
+Erwin Kardell go to digitalspace.com.ng, it explains how
If the government is going to let private info be shared "for our own good" ,why would anyone store so much on the web?
+Ted Summers I wish I knew about that 25gb. I guess they took it away this week and replaced it with 7gb for those that don't have an account yet. Guess I really am sticking with Dropbox for most stuff.
+Pursuit Happitarian Some people aren't paranoid about information being shared. There are certain things that need to be kept private (bank info, passwords, etc) but the same reason I post everything public on social media is the reason why I wouldn't mind work file names being shared in Dropbox or GoogleDrive.
It's convenient to save things online.
I don't know why people get so up in arms over the way something is worded. All the highlighted line told me was that it plans to share it's APIs with other apps. So, that picture app can store its pictures to your Gdrive. Is Dropbox letting other apps move or add files to your dropbox? No. That's all they are saying not that they'll own your creative works. They would be sued by everyone if they did that.
Not sure about the iOS devices, but it definitely can between desktop and laptop. It's 25% the cost too. $5/mo for 100GB compared to Dropbox's $20/mo for the same.
Does it say anywhere in the TOS that Google is allowed to look in the files you store – that aspect worries me as they seem to scan everything in every other service they use.
ARGHHHHHH! My Google Drive is not ready yet
Just read the TOS and it shares the basic privacy policy of every other service they have – which basically means they will look at your files and if they find them (in their opinion) objectionable your whole google account will be disabled without warning or recourse.
(similarly if you fall fowl of their privacy policy in any other service – all of your services are terminated – including that nifty drive you had all of your data on)
No thank you
I'm using GDrive with 100GB and I like it. But I never used DropBox before, so I can't compare it. GDrive is free/cheap and fast. If you are using Google Doc's oder/and Mail you have to try GDrive (:
I don't see where people would get that best it works just like dropbox
it's missing the dropbox right click share options ( although I imagine they will come later)
u are sexy
+Glen Malone II no it doesn't dropbox and Ubuntu one let you sync folder in the native file structure. Gdrive requires you to uplaof them into a new structure and its a one way street it will not push files to a local folder. Not the same at all. Example, I have dropbox on my phone and both my desktops. I want a music torrent, I download it on my phone and move it to my torrent folder with dropbox. At home both my PC's now have a local copy on the drive. My first pc has torrent software the automatically starts torrents in that folder.
Starting to look like once again Google hit the street running and fell over. When will they release a polished product 1st time round ?
( reminds me of Microsoft in their "glory" days – get it out – let the users test it and suggest improvements )
They are just making hype now. 1. Lure user's with "unlimited data storage" 2. Wait 6 years 3. Push a app to android that's say "sorry but we are still not ready, but look we renamed doc's for you. 4. Hope no one notices you just renamed doc's and plan to integrate it with your other services.
I know it's "GOOGLE" but I'm sort of a fan of releasing a minimally-viable product and growing it from hardcore user usage & feedback. I've been on various sides of product / app / software development and know if you wait until it's perfect, it never will be.
+Robert Daggett great info – thanks for it. I need native / auto-syncing folders, so Dropbox it is for me.
Why not beta it then, like they do with everything else. Gmail and plus were invite only betas. Seems google is not good at seeing who their power users are. Example…I was an invited tester for Gmail, and then used EVERY SERVICE SINCE THEN and sent feedback and yet I had to scratch around for a plus invite. Take a lesson for apple here Foster your fans. I was/am still possed over the lack of an invite. What other company would treat a 8yr loyal customer like that?
+Lynette Young I have a curl script that automates movies even better called movie phone. I am staying with dropbox too. It is flawless and has version history. I use Ubuntu one as well synchronized the same folders!
Google is trying to get in on the cloud bandwagon – they obviously couldn't wait 6 months for testing – 10 year user here – not impressed with this rollout at all.
Neither am I. We should use doc's to collaborate on a letter of disappointment to them. They had this in the works in 2006 so I don't think that's a valid excise either. Supposedly they had an internal version a while back
I am liking GDrive thus far…
+Robert Daggett and send it to who ? You ever tried reaching Google customer support – non-existant, totally automated
You call adword. I have contacted them many times
+Robert Daggett been trying to get hold of someone from gmail support for a month – no joy 🙁
I also feel that if someone is concerned about the privacy of their data, then why not just encrypt the data before uploading with software like TrueCrypt.
That would defeat the idea of cloud computing though. You would have to decrypt on the other end. Besides, I would posit that 90% of those people are concerned with the most benign information.
