Not going well so far. I haven't seen a 640×480 blue Microsoft install screen in 15 years!

Good luck Lynette! 🙂
ugh. perhaps try to get windoze7? Not that I can help since I am a PC
Best of luck – that does not sound fun at all!
+James Liddil for Windows 7 I'll just run it on a separate machine. I need to install Dragon Dictate and the only decent version around will run on XP – so that's what I'm going with. It's the only application I need XP for, so I'm not super worried about anything else. Well, maybe some games…..
So Nuance doesn't make a mac version? odd. But I see where you are coming from
I've been carting around an XP VM image for … too long. It's a bit of a miracle the thing still works, I'm sure.
waiting for the pix of the 3.1 inside of xp inside of 7 inside of mac
but aren't macs perfect and windoze evil and Steve Jobs walked on water (pure sarcasm)
Linus Torvalds ….nuff said LOL
+Ken Harkey Linus only made the kernel not getting you very far without Richard Stallman and the GNU project. I'd go with Linux 'nuf said.
+Gerry Gasca I am very well aware of that. I just feel like messing with people right now, its hot, and im bored
VMS rules
+James Liddil yes, but it's much more expensive than the PC version and rumor has it that isn't not nearly as functional as Dragon Dictate 10. Since we have a gazillion licenses for XP I grabbed one for a VirtualBox install. I only did this because I didn't want to jump back and forth between machines to 'type' and do work.
I think we have four Macs, two Hackintoshes & 12 PCs IN OUR HOUSE alone.
+Lynette Young you trumped me. I'm not worthy
We are a house of geeks for sure! We also have a few servers but will soon switch to rack mounts in the basement. It's a sickness, I know!
Oh well, I've had an engine flame out a few times in an
aircraft, and I was kind of curious as to whether it was
gonna light up again, things of that nature, but uh, they
seemed to work out…
Rackmounts are only good when space is a premium. Otherwise it's far cheaper (but uglier) to go with small towers and shelving. I dunno, maybe ya'll have some connections, but every time I've been tempted .. yikes.
+Michael Griffith we (my husband and I) are lucky enough to have corporate clients that donate out their old-to-them but perfectly-fine-for-us rack mount servers. I'd never buy one! We are all about recycling 😉
Good, nothing pains me more than to see those laying around with slashed RAM slots or whatever "mandatory destruction" required by HIPAA or something stupid.
Oh no +Michael Griffith we actually just recycled to the reclamation center in our county a laptop with a 128MB hard drive. If it powers on, we use it!
+Lynette Young hmmm I have not seen those in a while either! 🙂
