This is the point that many people are not getting about Google+ in my opinion. They view it as just a social media network and the compare it with others like Facebook, Twitter etc when really it is actually a social layer that will span all Google products. People will only understand this as more and more Google products get integrated – the fog will clear and they'll see the vision Google has for its future.
Often when I read the detractors of G+ I think that they are drawing a lot of conclusions based on the site that is less than one year old. In fact, this is a problem with technology and other areas in life, everybody wants instant gratification. It takes time to build things that last, and I definitely think G+ is going in the right direction.
Wouldnt that be a statement that any business would make if an analyst questioned its competitiveness? "Excuse me Burger King what do yo have to say about that fact that McDonalds is beating you in the fast food industry?"
