Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
lol, and WHO doesn't own those books yet? 🙂
hi +Lynette Young
We own all the books – and some we have multiples of. This is the first time they are available in digital format.
Let me just say that this would have been way more convenient (and affordable) compared to buying each 2,000 page book.
I'll be downloading them onto my Nook as soon as I get home! Woohoo!
Don't forget many libraries are checking out ebooks on e-readers. You may not need to buy them if your library is participating. Ours is, and we're kinda small, relatively speaking.
I doubt the HP books will be available at the library anytime soon in ebook format. We have found the selection of library books to be very slim and mostly very old. I am also excited, as soon as I can manage the budget I will be getting for my Kindle, also gifting to my girl for her birthday for her Kindle. I like that they are being bundled at a 10% discount as well, very different pricing in that. I like bundled sets because they are always in the right order, I know silly and not a problem with HP but it is an issue with some series if you don't know the order by title.
+Sabrina Benton +Jill Brady It is a great concept, libraries getting into ebook lending, but it is executed so poorly where I live. My library system literally has 300 pages of ebooks, with no sort function. By the time I get to page four, I've not found one book that is available, and I lose interest. Have you seen an efficient system of ebook lending?
+Julie Casey I don't know if it's universal, but my library uses OverDrive. There is an option to only display items that are available. I don't so much have a problem with finding available books, as there just seems to be 'browse by category' or 'direct keyword search.' The 'browse by category' is ok, but in the Sci-fi/Fantasy section, it's all 12 – 14 year old heros, clearly showing me the library's interpretation of the genre is 'young adult' – even though there is a separate young adult and separate children's section. Ugh.
That's on my iphone. Getting the OverDrive system working on my son's Kindle Fire (Gift from grandparents) is proving much more difficult.
I think two things will happen – 1) OverDrive will improve, and 2) I will get better at my searches.
I listen to a lot of audiobooks (makes doing dishes tolerable), and those are available through the library, so it's pretty useful. I haven't found our selection to be horrible small, but it IS hit or miss, so I can't be picky. That will also get better over time. 🙂 Being an active user will help that happen faster too.
I LOVE that I don't have to bring books back to the library – that was the bane of my existence.
+Julie Casey Our library has a feature that I can search their books for ebooks, works well then the books can be downloaded using Overdrive (or something like that). I have not really found any books in the e-format I wanted to read so I have not used it though I have browsed. My girl and my mom both have used it, my mom more. She finds books that she read years ago and likes to read. I am pickier and the authors I like are not available in e-format typically. Plus they get one ebook and 150 regular books of new releases, it is still faster to get the regular book if it is a new release.
