+Dave Meralus totally rocks and hooked me up with a place to crash. My plane ticket is purchased. See you there – I'm only there for the parties networking. If you are in town, look me up.
I didn't want to go to SxSW this year, but of course, changed my mind last minute. I want to head down for the long weekend & hang badgeless – networking only for me, no talks or panels. I am actually ticked that the whole damn city of Austin seems to be taking horrid advantage of travelers and charging $600 A NIGHT for a normally $89 room. That honestly doesn't make me want to visit there outside of SxSW.
Now I just need to find a friend I can crash with for three nights…..

Any comment from, say, the Austin Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau? Or Mayor?

I'm sure +Dave Meralus will get you hooked up with accommodations, +Lynette Young. He's been doing a fantastic job organizing for the Google+ HIRL experience at SXSW. If you need any information from Austin in the meantime, let me know.
+Dave Meralus is my HERO and hooked me up. I just got my plane tickets & send Dave some cash for the accommodations. G+ers are really an amazing bunch…..
I wish I was going, and had a room to offer, since you're one of my favorite roomies at conferences. 😀
What dates will you be there? Hope to meet you!
+Lynette Young might not be going after all. We were waiting on a last minute detail so I didnt book my flight. $1300. Not really worth it for one night 🙁
+Jacqueline Carly hotels are insane. It should seriously be illegal how much they charge. Airfare into San Antonio is much better than flying straight into Austin. NerdBird usually fills up super early though…
+Lynette Young how far is san antonio? We have a place to stay, it was just the flight. Either way, her has to go.
+Jacqueline Carly, San Antonio is about 70 miles south of Austin, depending on what part of town you'll be in.
EDIT: The airport is on the north side of San Antonio, so the 70 miles is fairly accurate from there.
+Jacqueline Carly San Antonio is about an hour north of Austin. MUCH better to fly in/out of. Last year we rented a car and came in through SA – it was much easier and the drive was nothing…
im near austin we gotta meet up!
Let's meet up! I'll be there
MA ABONEZ SI EU.
