Who's hosting SuperBowl parties tonight? Who's hosting SuperBowl G+HANGOUTS tonight?!
For the record, I'm not much of a sports person, but like to watch 'big games' like the World Series or the SuperBowl. I do not, however, watch things like the Grammys or Emmys. The excitement and tension seem to be more fun and genuine during a live sports game than during an awards ceremony where everything is pre-determined.

I live in Indy and it is amazing! The electricity is in the air!
I hate to be a pedant about this, but it's a widely held view in Europe. It's hard to recognise the "world series" as a big game, when only teams from the US or Canada can qualify! Have fun watching the Super Bowl!
True, I personally am more of a soccer fan, but this is a HUGE deal here in the States.
LOL +Andrew Jarvis I often wondered about that too. I don't know the history, maybe the USA had baseball before everyone else? (My guess is that we Americans are just self-centered lol.) As I said, I'm not a sports person, so I have no idea. I'm sure Wikipedia could help me out!
Party started here 2 hours ago…we've been cooking and eating since noon already. Me, my 18- yr old godson and his mom, childhood friends. Good food. Good vibes, good day!!
Teehee +Andrew Jarvis I agree. Being a Brit in the US I always thought that was a really funny name to call the World Series tournament too. Like +Lynette Young I am a self-admitted, major game only fan (read:Oh you have beer and snacks? Then I am absolutely there)
However if the 49ners had won, I would definitely be more interested in the Superbowl itself today. Sob.
+Katy Davies +Lynette Young we have a world series here too, but only our house and the house next door can play. I've been world champion for the last 5 years 😉 ! The game is shown live tonight in the BBC, it's going to be huge.
That's a good idea: I'll troll around for Hangouts tonight. My wife will be awake. (Joining a Hangout when you can't make noise is pretty pointless.)
+Andrew Jarvis keep the streak alive! best wishes ;0)
That's a pretty cool idea, +Lynette Young. I have a standing bet for 8 volunteer hours with a few people. If the Giants win, they volunteer with my favorite nonprofit. If the Patriots win, I volunteer with theirs.
Wish I would have thought of the idea earlier than 4pm on Friday. 🙂
+Monnie Respass 🙂
I may check in for a hot minute. I'm not hosting a party but my mom & sister are coming over. Getting ready to start the hot wings, jambalaya, and nachos shortly.

I decided on a big crockpot full of pulled pork. Now I'm impatiently waiting a few hours for it to be done…..

+Andrew Jarvis +Katy Davies The name 'World Series' is simple to explain: Major League Baseball attracts the best players from around the world, regardless of nationality. Check out the team rosters to see…Japan, China, Dominican Republic, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Canada.
Just like rugby/football/soccer/hockey, the host city/country does not matter as much to players as it does to fans. They come from all over to make a team. Baseball is an international sport but the fact is that most fans are in North America, so it only makes sense that that league has the finances to recruit the best of the best. That's why it's called the world series.
Our European friends need to start watching more baseball so they can support their own team in the world series someday 🙂
Now enjoy the super bowl…a fun live-to-air event shared with 5 billion peeps around the globe, eating good food and hanging out with friends and family. What could be wrong with that?

+Pierre Bonhomme I'm not buying that! Look at football (soccer) – it was invented in England, has been played here longer than anywhere else, has the richest league in the world and only about half of the players are British.
The FA (Football Association) Cup, the big domestic knock out trophy, was won last year by Manchester City who only had 2 Englishmen in their starting lineup. That doesn't make it the world cup! That makes them a very cosmopolitan team, but not world champions!
Apples and oranges. Soccer has a much wider global audience than baseball and as a result, has many pro leagues in addition to the one you mention. Baseball has only one premiere league in the entire world.
Of course the FA is not the world series. If, however, it was the only elite league of consequence – based in its country of origin as baseball is – then it would be, by default, the premiere world title for soccer.
I don't think we can't just erase a hundred-and-fifty years of American culture and history to make an argument around semantics because European countries don't participate. Leading athletes in cricket, hockey, basketball, tennis, figure skating, or skiing enjoy world champion status even though not every nation takes part in those sports. Should they be denied that title until we spread the sport across the planet so every nation participate equally?
To that end, I suppose we could rename it to the North American Series. That would please the critics for now, but it would suggest the existence of a competing European series, an African Series and so on. For now, those do not exist. For that reason, it makes perfect sense to have the world series based in the USA.

Yep – I do have to agree with +Andrew Jarvis on this one I'm afraid +Pierre Bonhomme. Football (soccer) is the biggest sport in the world, played in nearly every country and the ultimate champions game, which truly earns it's moniker The World Cup is a game made up of representatives from teams who play for their country, against other countries. You can't have a world cup/series with only one country playing!
That said, I am fully committed to start drinking beer, eating some game day food and heckling players that I don't know that much about. Nothing wrong with that at all – bring it on!
