"…women, stop humiliating one another. I’m specifically thinking of all the reality shows (Baseball Wives, Mob Wives, Real Housewives, etc.) where women play each other’s worst enemy. When did slapping, hair-pulling and bullying become ok? By putting each other down, we just give license for anyone else to do the same. It’s not cute. Or ladylike…whatever that means."

I’m a Feminist. Sort of.
I hate the ABC show The Bachelor. Hate. Loathe. And I feel the same way about The Bachelorette. While many of you sit on the edge of your seat sweating and having heart palpitations about which ma…

???????? ?? ????????, ?????? ? ??????????.
Thanks for sharing this. I agree that we can be each other's worst enemy. That's why I'm enjoying the strong women's community here on G+ and through organizations like Miss Representation – watching that documentary last year was a breath of fresh air to me and something all women can rally around.
??? ???? ???????? ???????.
That is an excellent post. 🙂
jajajajaja
I was at the gym the other night doing cardio in front of the row of TVs.
Mostly sports, which I am watching. Far right corner has what I realize is The Bachelor, and it looks like guy is "choosing" women or whatever the hell he does. Some chick doesn't get chosen and is "devastated" and he walks her to car, pretends the rejection he handed out weighs, like, super-heavy on his mind, and we watch her cry as the car departs.
It is such screwed-up crap. The idea that all these women would normally be into this guy if they all randomly were at the mall, or a party, or whatever. No…it is manufactured, and it is about competition, and being publicly accepted, etc… The whole idea of a proposal being desired at the end of the show is ludicrous.
Don't get me started on the Housewives or Jersey Shore…the absolute worst women in the world. Give me cool, give me class, give me natural beauty…that is what I am interested in. Paris, Kardashians, Housewives show, Bachelor/ette show….it is all toxic. When did women think acting tough and talking ghetto was something to aspire to, or something men would find attractive???
Could not agree more. These type of shows perpetually show women as shallow, emotional creatures incapable of self progression and individual growth. How utterly boring!
Don't even get me started on The Bachelor/ette. Gah. When did it become acceptable to develop a show that celebrates the concept of arranged marriage for wealth? Especially when we are excluding the right to marry for so many comitted couples in the US based on sexual orientation, and also have divorce rate of over 50%.
I think humanity in general comes off poorly in reality TV shows: Women just fare worse than average.
I think it was Kate Ottavio that wrote that paragraph about disliking all these shows. I can't think of a better way of describing how I feel about those shows as well. I feel like I'm in the minority but FINALLY somebody has nailed it! Thank you! : )
Amen, sister!
Thanks so much for sharing, Lynette!
very sweet
I NEVER WATCH THOSE SHOWS. I SAY, GO FIND A MAN ON YOUR OWN.
