Today I am thankful for traveling.
A few years back I hit my all-time high of speaking engagements in one year. Fifty-eight. 58. Yep. (Did I ever tell you the story of the time I went to the Philadelphia PA airport when I was flying out of the Newark NJ airport? Yeah, it’s funny NOW…) That burnt me out. My speaking has been completely put on the back burner because I’m so active in our software business. I still get on a plane six or so times a year, but now it is to build my own business and not someone else’s.
While I absolutely love traveling for work, I prefer when I can bring my daughter (and soon my son) or travel with my husband. A few weeks back my entire family went to Florida for a business trip and even got to go to the Universal Harry Potter parks!
Eventually we’d like to get to the point where our business is mobile in the sense that we could take laptops with us for work and travel during summer school breaks. While staying home during the school year – and snow – isn’t appealing to me, the sacrifice can be made for summers on the road!
