Calling all entrepreneurs & intrapreneurs! What are your weekend plans? Me? I'm working. But not at the computer. I try to get out of my office and spend time with my family, but even then the kids are off doing their own thing – leaving me chunks of time to occupy myself. So I get back to thinking about all the things I could be doing to make my brain smarter…
Maybe you have a few to add? Name your best ideas for 'couch surfing' your business or projects ahead.
– Grab a Kindle and read a business book by the pool
– Grab an old fashioned pen and paper and doodle your next great product from the couch
– Catch up on podcasts and online training via your iPad
– READ A BOOK
– Print out all your bio and marketing materials and give them an overhaul with a red pen
Got any others?
PS – Happy weekend!

I'm a big fan of notebooks. Drafts, sketches, hair-brained ideas, they all go down on paper before I sit at a computer, most of the times.
My best ideas come to me when I'm showering, for some reason. I am working all weekend. I am trying to find some web devs/graphic folks to farm some work out to
I Love to take pen an paper and mindmap trough my goals and next steps to do in a nice chair in the backyard. Usualy there is a great outcome for my buisness and me…
Grab the three kids tomorrow, make a 30 Minute drive to Essen and enjoy all day long in the "Idea Park" a practical science/tech fair running for 2 weeks in the Essen fairground and the Gruga Park surrounding the fairground: http://www.ideenpark.de/
There is so much to do and see there, one would actually need 3-5 days to have it seen all, I will take my camera and get some inspiration… 😉
Make something with your hands, knit, bake, draw, garden…I find that working on things like that stimulates my mind a lot, and I have a great feeling of double accomplishment at the end, I got a lot of brain processing done and I have something physical to show for my labors.
If you're looking for a good book to read, try reading "The Power of Habit" by New York Times writer http://charlesduhigg.com/the-power-of-habit/
I just finished it and it's pretty good. Interesting insights into the human mind. Talks about how to recognize the cues and routines of habits, how to form good habits, in life and in business, and how to break bad ones. Some really good examples too.
I try to dedicate my Saturday and Sunday mornings to catching up on essential news I missed in the industries and verticals most relevant to my business pursuits. The +Pulse app saves me a huge amount of time, as it aggregates my feeds and syncs them with all of my devices: phone and various tablets.
I like to do a progress check on my mid- and long-range objectives. How am I trending? Are the objectives still what I want to achieve, or is it time to adjust the targets?
I'll also dig through all those emails and articles I tagged with "Follow Up," hoping to get back to them someday.
Really, though, I think what I like best is to disengage once in a while so I can come back to it with fresh eyes and a clearer perspective.
+Ken Lingad For me that's an everyday routine I do in nearly every spare minute … and those minutes add up over the day…. 😉
Usually I work online during the weekend, at least in the summer I do. I don't accomplish as much during the day in the summer so I often work 7 days a couple hours a day to make up for it! This weekend I won't be doing as much, school will be starting soon and I think the weather is supposed to be nice 🙂
Wow. I feel bad. I was just going to sleep, eat Cherios and watch back episodes of Breaking Bad.
+Martin Kelly I think I might just do the same thing <grin>
sounds like an idea
try to clear out a bunch of old email
spend some time with time
youll find it, time well spent
This weekend I am finally getting to work on my new e-newsletter venture. Sexy, I know. But it’s due to launch the first week of September so I need to kick it in high gear. The Kid will be attending a horror convention in Jersey (Monster Mania) with her father where she is really excited to meet a makeup effects guy. I think I just heard her dad’s heart swoon.
I tend to get my best ideas while cleaning. I'll have soft music playing while everyone is gone. Ahhh peace lol
we are one share
We had a great day on the science and tech fair in Essen, I got some pics here: http://goo.gl/E95lK
