TGIF!! I'm spending the time with my family and working on my business. (Sleep is in there someplace too.)
I'm curious, what type of weekend plans do entrepreneurs make (we normally don't acknowledge weekends)? What do you do in your 'off' time to make sure you are educating yourself and growing your business?

I know exactly what you mean. I often wonder the same thing. Esp since I have a small business, all my time goes into improving it and running errands for it. People(customers) often tell me my job is the easiest and I wish they knew what all goes into running a small business. They are so clueless. They see us chatting, and entertaining them as thats all that we do.
weekend? what's that?
just kidding. i try to take at least one day and two nights off over the weekend — if not, i wind up fried and start to lose productivity. and by 'off', i mean hanging out with family and friends and having a good time or doing needed stuff around the house … in other words, not related to business.
Go on a "date" with my husband ! Attending my wonderful church is also a must. A nice nap on at least one of those days (Sat, Sun or both) and a good movie, too.
I do a lot of reading to educate myself for my business. I read on planes and waiting for the train. My iPad is irreplaceable – I load up books and videos.
Read articles and blogs that are of interest. 🙂 Connect and communicate with my readers.
The major way I acknowledge weekends is by not scheduling phone calls – beyond that – a week day may look like a weekend day and a weekend day may look like a week day.
Oh wait – I didn't answer the question! I have a stack of books I've been working my way through – but I really don't feel 'off' when I'm reading a biz book.
Sleep is for single people! LOL!
Tech Disconnection. Seriously. Everything goes on silent and I turn my computer off so I can be 110% present. I try to engage more in face-to-face time with prospective clients. Most of all I just try to make the most of my moments.
Sleep. A tired Mike is an unprofitable Mike… I tend to take Sundays or Mondays off, It just so happens that that's when I have the least amount of stuff going on as those are the busiest days on the internet (which means I can't do the critical bits of my job for fear of locking thousands of users out). Update/patch days are scheduled during the week, at the crack of dawn. If I'm working on a project, none of that applies, and I takes 'em as I gets 'em.
I do nothing.
Yes +Allison Aileen Masters, there is lots of reading for me too. Also, meditation or yoga to totally clear my mind. It's like a cleanser for my creative energy.
very good point, Eva. I didn't mention what I do to relax. I love taking long walks with no cell phone or gadgets. 😀
Relax by the fireplace with a book that helps me reach my goals.
A nice evening with my wife. Some sleep and a refreshing morning helping to share some good news with others. Then in the afternoon, well, I think we'll repeat tonight…I hope your weekend brings yourest and happiness!
Took yesterday off +Lynette Young first one in a llloooonnnnggggg time….
It's tough to disconnect, especially when you own your own business, you have your office in your home, and your connected (like it or not) all the time via your phone, etc. But I always put family first, and make sure that time spent with them takes precedence whenever possible. If that means I have to work later into the wee hours after they go to sleep – so be it. Case in point: Tonight my son and I went out for a burger, and now we'll watch a movie. After he's asleep, I'll get back into my office and work while everyone's asleep. Because my show comes out on Sunday and there ate other projects I'm working on all the time, weekends are no different than any other day of the week. I'll sleep… someday 🙂
Family first 🙂 Always and ever.
