It's a great job search resource.
It works for me. Many of my clients come from LinkedIn. When I was in the mortgage industry, it was a job requirement to set up a LinkedIn account. When I left that business, I kept the account and all my contacts and just changed my career info.
I got my current job on Linked In via networking and working hard on my profile and group activities. I really think this is how professionals can find better gigs with less time interviewing and more time spent really getting to know each other relationship wise. Relationships bring on talent rather than just "filling a position".
The last 3 recruiter's that have contacted me about job opportunities (real ones, not the crazy "You too can work at home and make millions kind.") have found me on Linkedin. I say it's a pretty good tool for connecting on a professional level.
