I actually feel bad about it, but having accounts 'hanging around' that don't SAY anything is useless. I even deleted friends I know from offline that started out strong and blew off Google+.
My absolute favorite was stumbling across a friend that is a 'social media expert' leaving his last public message in Google+ (in September) saying that the platform is bunk and any company thinking Google+ was going places was setting themselves up for failure and ridicule.
I wonder if he's still an "expert"…..

Great idea! I need to do some G+ house cleaning, too. Nice post, Lynette.
I'd say he is not an 'expert' –
I love people who "predict" a failure from a company with a long history and track record. Just like everyone predicted that Android was going to be a fad and eventually everyone would go back to the iPhone.
Wonder how that worked out for them…
Survey says… not so much.
Was that mg seigler? No wait he is still here saying that nonsense too, so no.
Now you have the space to follow some new faces… 🙂
These horseless carriages are just a passing fancy!
Happily I was out there preaching to whomever would listen that this was the place to be. Also happy I have it in writing online 😉
How did you delete all of those circlers? How did you find the ones who were not sharing anything with you?
Chrome extension "Uncircle Inactives+" helped me find accounts that weren't posting. Not the best user interface, but it works!
I need to do the same, and get rid of some. Did you use an extension to help determine whom to un-circle?
Oh and the failure comment must have come from someone who is a failure themselves – with such a negative outlook, one must wonder. ;o)
whew i made the cut:P yayaya:)
happy I made the cut!
Woo hoo I wish I had the guts to cull. I am afraid to accidentally cull people that I interact with but merely forget their name
There's a Chrome extension for that too? Lol nice. Uh, mainly yeah that person is just one of those self proclaimed 'experts' seriously funny and sad.
Hi +Lynette Young and for the record I know you and Women of G+ (and guys too) are awesome! My sanity has been restored in a huge way this year since joining the Great G+ migration
A computer on every desk? Pshaw…that's just crazy talk! 😉
Oh my goodness +Lynette Young – I'm surprised /amazed I'm in anyone's circles!
Cull! I learned a new word today! YAY! lol
It's almost useless to call yourself an expert in anything that changes at the rate that technology does. There are simply only so many hours in a day to learn something.
+Jason King I agree with your statement to some extent, not completely. So technology changes at a very fast rate – the underlying human behavior does not. We just adapt and change, but at a much lesser speed. In this case, A social media expert does not have to be an expert on G+ or FB, i.e basically they dont need to know knowing every functionality trick or how it's being used – something that keeps changes, but more on social media impact on society and lives, and how it can be tapped, used, improved.
There hijacked this post! Hey that's the fun of G+ keep bumping and talking. Sorry.
Funny that..I debated the same thing today.
I can't get any of my firends onto google + they are still happy with the Facebook status quo
HOLY CROW
You have over 375,000 circlers ?
Um .. are you a celebrity?
i bet he thinks he is
I did that a while back and keep thinking how will I know when they come back? Then Google took away the Incoming feed. Oops.
maybe you right
Maybe his next post will be…just kidding.
I haven't been posting much because I've mostly been listening. Sometimes I over edit in my head and end up not saying anything.
The system of google? if we are a long time not online? horror
Whew, made the cut! 🙂
YAY! I'm still here!
Glad I made the cut I like your posts
ha! I'll trade all the other social networks for G+ — it's just so much better
Happy to have survived the cut. I actually filter my stream just to find your posts and those from +Women of Google+
You are my favorite "follow". I am new to this "platform", so am tentative about posting. Thanks for +Women of Google+ and your great posts!
I too would like to know what automating tool you've found for managing circles!
I'm guilty of not contributing much here. I just haven't had the time to give it love, like I do everything else Google! I do enjoy following your love of it on Twitter tho! <3
Haha, I'm guessing not so much… I don't really contribute much here but definitely see the plus for having it around.
LOL… to the social media 'expert'
I try to post on here and have great faith that G+ is going to be around and grow, but I have an amazing lack of time for social media in general these days… hoping to fix that soon.
Bunk to the extent that brands are starting to do their launches exclusively on G+? Hmm, interesting bunk. Cadbury are a good example.
hey dear,,,add me
It's so funny because I too was thinking Plus wouldn't go anywhere. That's before I started engaging with it. I'm finding there to be so much value added from an information standpoint. I've yet reaped the benefits for getting more people to my blog but like any social media platform that takes time and energy put into engagement.
I've been culling, too. If they are inactive, why keep them circled? And when I first started I bulk added some circles of people that I don't think I've ever read anything from them so I need to go through those.
Did this today too. Great little extension, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dhcfgcecigkknnimiljlbcjmnbeeodhl
Also a firm believer that it takes 10,000 hours+ of dedicated study to master anything, so self-proclaimed "experts" are usually just blowin' wind.
