That is awesome.
What kind of message does the photo send? Granted it may be a circuit board layered with resin, bezel set in sterling – but it is still a craft, not highly skilled jewelry making, or programming. Rather odd subliminal signal.
Probably from Etsy, I've seen all sorts of repurposed computer parts turned into interesting pieces over there. Being that Etsy is the one giving the money, the photo makes sense to me.
Well, it basically says "this is what women can do with technology".
And presents an ancient craft.
Neat!!

I wish there was something like this available as a continuing ed series in the evening. I'm transitioning into development, and my employers are super supportive. But it's hard to find an opportunity for people to closely review my code, and give me constructive feedback.
I wish there were things like this other than in NY, which is one the other side of the country from me. I think it would be great to have schools focused on programming and development and to offer courses beyond the basics (or focused on real world problems) and mentorship. Would be great to start an apprentice program. You know how some trade schools have places where you can get discounted services from students? There could be a shop of student programers that do things like build websites for charities and such.
