It's weird, but I'm proud my family all came together to celebrate her life and legacy. Even my childhood best friend came. I guess part of the reason for funerals is to show everyone still here how much they mean to each other.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've always attended funerals for people I respected/cared about….mainly to show their surviving family how much that person meant to me. To be there to support them in their time of loss. It's good to hear how their attendance lifted you.
No one knows the type of person they are until they die, and what they leave behind is the feeling of a reality without their presence, and that is something that can be forever lasting. Sorry for your loss but I am happy for your Grandmother.
Indeed Lynette. My sympathies to you and your family.

My condolences. We do want them to stay so very much but it's also important to let them go when the time comes. You are so right when you say that The coming together of our loved ones at these times does underline to us the precious & positive qualities of life as well as doing honour to your grandmother.
It's good to hear that you can, as a family, celebrate her life. Peace to you, Lynette, it's never easy.
keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, lynette
undoubtedly, our families are one of the most invaluable thing in the whole world for us. sometimes we don't realise, but when after a while we meet them,we understand how much we love and need them
because at a funeral, could not be anywhere else?
