Anyone using the Instant Upload on their iOS device yet? I chose not to turn it on, my fear was it would slow down my phone. Any thoughts?

Google+ Adds Instant Photo Upload to iOS
The Google+ app for iOS has added a new Instant Upload feature, which automatically uploads any new photos you take on your phone to Google+.
Android users will be quite familiar with this feature, h…

My fear is it automatically posting photos I accidentally take while drunk…
great if you take good pics. Could be bad if you like to drunk-snap. 😉
I had it on for a little while and didn't really sense slowdown. For me, there's just sometimes photos that I want to never meet the online world and I'm a bit too picky to chance it with certain things so I turned it off after playing with it.
I just downloaded the update now my iPhone is hanging and won't let me log in. Maybe a million people are trying at the same time ;-
+Kimberly Castleberry Thats exactly why im mad at my Galaxy Nexus.. it instant uploads everything! lol and like you, id rather the world not see everything
My suggestion is not to upload everything in your phone unless you want it for a backup. If so, make a specific time to do it (like as you are going to sleep). After that, as an Android user, it just uploads as soon as you take the picture and doesn't take that long to do it. My assumption is it would be just as quick on your iOS.
+Lynette Young Why the instant upload in the first place? I don't like so I turned mine off.
+Gina Reed it is quick but I can add photos manually if I choose to share. but my guess it is a good way to store your photo's in case the phone is stolen! may have to rethink this.
Yeah.. I dont want people seeing photos of me naked…
I turned it off too
+Yanni Maverick It does not show the world anything. It uploads to a private folder. Then you choose what to show. Of course, if the account gets hacked could end up in public. And I am sure there is an easy way to turn instant upload off in your Galaxy Nexus settings.
Hi all, I've been using this for a few months on my Android phone and I just want to be clear, your automatically uploaded pictures are never shared automatically.
If you turn this feature on, they show up in a special place in your pictures that's seperate from your albumns called "From my phone".
None of the pictures in here appear anywhere else on Google+ and only you can access them and only from this one screen. From this screen you can then share them at which point they appear normally.
Have no fear about accidentally drunk posting. 🙂
As for slowing your phone down, I don't take enough pictures for this to be an issue. On a typical day I would say I take one or two and these upload in the background in a few minutes.
I hope it does'nt automatically upload my porn ive downloaded on my phone…
+Alex Garcia Thank you, i always assumed since they were in an "album" under the G+ app that they could be seen!! Never check otherwise! See what ASSuming did to me!?
+Mark Bennett THANK YOU for clearing up how that works! Now i need not fear of prying eyes! 🙂
+Oscar Aleman only sexy photos you take yourself. Which I suppose could be worse! 😛
For those worried about the photos when you are 'drunk', don't worry about that…it's uploaded but NOT SHARED! Nobody but you can see it. I have many I never shared with G+ but I like that it is there already because it is quick and easy. On another note, if my phone freezes and I can't find the picture, it is always stored in G+ for me… it's happened to me several times already and I love it! 😀
Ok so how would i access this folder with G+ while using my PC??
lol
+Sheila DuBois it doesn't even have to be stolen or lost… if your phone starts acting crazy and you need to clear everything in a reset your pics are saved. Or you upgrade your phone, pics are saved! I have several phones from the past with pics from my daughter right after she was born…I switched phones and now there is no way I can get them off of these old phones. I really like this option and I don't have to sit there and do it for every picture. I forget too much for that. Other instances for the use are cases like dropping your phone in the toilet, in a puddle, you hear the alarm and you chuck it across the room in your sleep! 😀
+Yanni Maverick it shows up in a special section on the G+ website. Just go to Photos and look for the "From my phone" link.
It shows all the photos on your phone then you can pick the ones you like and add then to an album or share them to your stream.
+Mark Bennett Thank you again. Obviously I'm rather new to this. Not to mention ive only had this Nexus for 2 weeks, never having owned a "smart phone" prior. 😛
When I needed a protected backup of all photos taken at a conference, while I was on vacation… I used Titanium Backup's Media uploader to push them all to Dropbox. At least there I know what folder they're in and the risk was lower and I only used it a short time. Thats the only times I allow my camera to sync everything anywhere other than to my desktop.
+Yanni Maverick no problem. Instant upload is one of my favourite features of G+. I use a couple devices (tablet and phone) and it's nice to know that wherever I've taken the picture it will be there when I get to my computer.
Having used it for a few months it's been very reliable, and being totally separate from my stream and albums I'm ont worried about the pictures accidentally being shared without my consent.
+Kimberly Castleberry I could be mistaken on this as I haven't used Dropbox in a while, but I think I recently read somewhere that the latest Dropbox client will automatically upload your pics to Dropbox. No need to Titanium Backup.
Titanium Backup is still great for it's other features though!
I've used it since the app came out for Android. You cannot go to my profile and see the pictures of my husband's self made haircut because I haven't shared it with anyone.
Mark – that Eyeball is kind disturbing…
+Gina Reed lol!!
I've had Instant upload on my Google phone for months and I don't notice any slowdown. I also like the fact that the photos are instantly ;backed up' onto G+. They only get shared if I chose to share them so I have no worries about this.
I just took a few minutes to read the posts. Sorry guys, but I'm kinda amused that a common worry is that 'inappropriate' photos will get onto the net.
1. The photos that are uploaded are not by default public, you chose to share what you want
2. Doesn't anyone worry that their phone may get lost, stolen or 'borrowed' and that the photos will get to your friends, family and co-workers?
The simple solution is to watch what sort of photos you take with your phone. I don't take any rude photos, but, being a 50+ baby boomer, I'm pretty sure that nobody wants to see them anyway – LOL
+Mark van Geyzel that's funny. 99% or more of my photos are so boring – or taken by my kids. Those photos are usually a picture of a doorknob or maybe the dog. My ultra boring life would be exposed!
I rest in the knowledge that most people would be aiming for the delete key – LOL
(I mean my 'naughty' photos +Lynette Young, not yours!)
Its ultra awesome!
not thrilled it was default as on. Uploaded all the images on my phone as I walked into a wifi zone. Now I have to get to a computer to delete. Surely this should have been an opt in instead.
My iOS gave an opt-in message the first time I used it…. I turned it off.
+Bobbi Henderson that must just be on iOS. On Android it was off but asked me to turn it on the first time I used it.
+Lynette Young I use it on my android all the time. One of the best features of the android system. Its great not having to connect my phone to the computer to pull pictures off it or having to email them. I can just come to Google + and download them from here. And no they aren't shared unless you choose to share them.
+Mark Bennett yep iOS on iPhone 4s- I mean, not a huge issue since it is to private album, but you can imagine my surprise when 453 photos suddenly showed up as I walked into wifi zone my phone was set for.
+Bobbi Henderson totally! They should fix that to be off by default ASAP.
Wouldn't using this feature be a a potential issue for folks who take a lot of photos yet have a very limited, capped data plan?
Yes, yes, yes, I love it, it "happened" a few days ago and I thought I'd been (personally) blessed! Can't get enough of it!
+Chris Aguilar it only uploads on wifi unless you change it in the settings
