"An overwhelming majority of searchers prefer Google search results"… only if 400 people out of 1 billion Google searches a day equals an overwhelming majority. Lazy writer.
Instead I'll ask the people that really matter (to me) – the Google+ users – how do you like personalized results in your Google searches?
Quote from article:
An overwhelming majority of searchers prefer Google search results to remain impersonal rather than personalized, according to a small sample of 400 U.S. Internet users.

People apparently don't like personalized results, according to a survey of 400 U.S. Web users. That doesn't bode well for "Google's Search, plus your world" technology.

my response? duckduckgo.com
I really enjoy the personalized search results. It's greatly helped my searching experience. I especially love how some results will come up with someone in my circles..thanks to G+. I'm glad they have this and I find it useful.
I like duckduckgo.com too. Because if I need to I can get the google results through it.
(I will say I appreciate that so far the results are closed up — I can click to see the personalized results or not as I choose; I would have a more violent response if the choice was taken away from me… 🙂 )
I don't care what any stats say. G+ day by day is becoming better simply because so many people are fed up with the restrictions of FB. I like the personalized search. It reminds me I am still human in this vast world of technology.
No personal search results here and I'm glad for it. They violate Canada's privacy laws. Once, I masked my IP to see what the US sees when they searched and I'm very glad I'm not subjected to it. I don't even like results narrowed down to my location. They skew things in such a fashion that I would never find anything new.
Now let me ask..do you like targeted ad's? I do. Sometimes I actually find them extremely useful to me!
Your Lazy writer assessment is an understatement, +Lynette Young. I'm amazed that this feature can repeatedly be used to fabricate an aura of discontent.
The first time I saw this option available, it occurred to me that if I'm searching for anything… …I would certainly want to see results derived from my own realm and peers. Possibly saving me some repeated effort… …so I Loved it.
After the numerous half-baked rants started, I reassessed things. I decided that if I didn't like/want/care for personalized results, I would click the Hide button. Thus giving me another flexibility option.
Still don't see what could possibly make this an issue.
I definitely prefer the searches using social signals over the one that has been gamed to death by seo.
+Julia Sherred The funny part of the personal search from google is that they base their results on the address you connect to the internet from. My results were based on my provider's location, not on my location. Made some of the results funny.
+Cash Dosby Not sure who you're asking but I want to answer that. Again, no. I use ABP because I hate seeing adverts, especially Google ads. I don't mind seeing ads on people's websites IF they are affiliate adverts and ONLY IF they are a company the person actually supports/ endorses. I'm not quite sure if they changes will be implemented on Google.com but the Canadian Privacy Commissioner has told Google it has to make it so that Canadian's can easily opt out of seeing adverts, especially targeted ones, as again, they break our privacy laws.
+Frank DeMarco paranoia makes it an issue.
bookmarked duckduckgo.com. thank you.
I feel its Improved. Secondly, Search+ Your World is for G+ users who are signed-in & opted-in. These journalists who have been trashing Google because the results don't include Twitter/FB results are either trolling for page-views or are in bed with Google's competition. It is a G+ feature for G+ users. It doesn't affect organic search and I would not expect to find G+ results or G+ profiles on Twitter or FaceBook.
I'd like to have the personalised results. I live in Brazil =(
It'd be better if Google allows us to choose options, personalized or anonymous search results. more controls and more satisfied user experiences.
Ha-ha! +Angela Shivley. I did consider paranoia as an issue, but decided that would be a stronger reason to know what personal search finds.
+Frank DeMarco also, people can permanently opt-out in the settings page from the Google Home Page. Dan Lyons wrote a post recently about Tech Journalism & Tech Blogging being gamed. Tech Bloggers are in bed with companies & VC's who they take money from. (CrunchFund?) They defend companies they or their buddy's have an interest in, while attacking the competition for far less or creating controversy where none exists.
I would like the personalized search results better if I didn't keep seeing pages I had shared show up higher in my search results, just because I shared them. If I've shared them, I already know about them–show me something I don't know!
I have to search many times logged out to provide accurate SERPs in front of a client as we review their website rank etc. However when I'm logged in for personal use, I love the personalized search results and that ads I don't click quit delivering. Keep up the good work!

I guess I need Google Translate+Lynette Young did someone just spam your post?
Personalized is always better.
I prefer personalized results if they represent the way we were operating prior to the internet, asking people in our social network for help. If it is manipulated, …
To be honest I have overwhelmingly ignored the personalized results.
I love everyone's point of view on this, thank to everyone for chiming in! No two people use the web / search the same so it's always interesting to me what matters to people. Thank you!!
