I’m off to the vets in about an hour to see if our youngest pug (just shy of 8 years old) is still sick. Two Christmas’ ago she seemed to get really sick, peeing by the back door 2-3 times a day and with a lot of blood. A trip to the vets revealed a bladder full of stones with an emergency surgery the only option. $2000 later, she seems fine. Fast forward to now, and the same symptoms crop up AGAIN. We put her on hardcore antibiotics and switched her food to a super-expensive prescription one. The other day I found her in her bed panting with her tongue hanging out (and it’s freezing here). I have a BAD feeling that she’s not any better and the bladder stones have come back. The vet is not sure her bladder would survive another $2000 surgery. Wish us luck.
